Literature Text

Today is December, the number one,
I seem to be writing this just for fun
And get far away from all the homework
To do this writing, which I call artwork.
The weather is worse, the skies are now dark,
Its fifty-one the thermometers mark.
But the temperature does not bother me,
For it is in my home where I will be
The rest of the time I have for my break
Until next morn' when I must again wake.
Enough 'bout weather, no more of the date,
But now something that you can all relate.
Just twenty-four more days 'till Christmas Eve,
What it all means, I will never conceive.
I'm not a man of religious interest,
Just a bit biassed, but a new artist
Out to interpret the world that you see
Into new meaning, what it 'ought to be.
Don't listen to me, believe what you want,
I'm not a prophet, a god, nor savant,
But want to be valued for all I do
Even if all I say is so untrue.
Here is something new, what I have to say,
It's away from Christmas to where I stray.
For talk of different religions I shan't,
But of what I want, in rhymes, I shall rant.
I know the title, this story does strain,
But between beliefs I will not cause pain,
For I create these to entertain you
Even if the crowd I seek is quite few.
READ IT ALOUD. That is the way it is supposed to be read.

Here is the second day of my 25-day project. I am creating a long poem, written in iambic pentameter with rhyming couplets (so every 2 lines rhyme with each other, and contain 10 syllables).

I will post a new section each day until December 24, Christmas Eve. I'll try my best to not make many references to Christmas as a religious holiday, but each day's short story excerpt will lead up to Christmas Eve.

I think that there should be a Chaucer day. And everyone has to speak in Chaucerian.
